The Lord Captain has forbidden me to write down the events of our journey, but what use is a remembrancer who does not remember? I can only hope that, if we survive, this journal will be a record of victory over these traitors and not an account of the end of our Imperium.

XVI. Building in Iron

I did some work on building Iron Hand number two today. He's more or less finished and ready to paint, but I'll probably set him aside for a while. I'm increasingly finding that if I come back to a mini after a break from it, I can spot how it needs to be improved.

  1. Love wat you have done with the chest armour and crotch plates. The slung bolter is excellent as well.

Not so sure on the angle the wrist holding the pistol is at though, at first look it looks an odd pose to me. Still loving the overall look though.

    1. Thanks Rictus.

The thinking behind the pose is that his primary weapon is his bolter. The bolt pistol is essentially his close combat weapon. I was trying yo capture the idea that he's dropped his bolter to pull out his pistol and shoot an enemy at point blank range ... probably an enemy who's considerably shorter than him.

Whether I've managed to capture that is debatable of course :)

  2. Wow, you have created another fantastic looking true-scale marine! He fits along perfectly with the first marine you made.

The greenstuff and plasticard work is crisp and precise. Maybe you don't need the helmet on his belt? I don't think he could even put it on with his bionics. The helmet does look nice there on his belt, but it could be replaced with some ammo pouches or something. Also, I like how his pistol is positioned. I think it does give the impression he is shooting his target at point blank range. Maybe consider adding a rear sight on the pistol?

    Keep up the great work!

    1. Thanks Adam. I hadn't considered the helmet problem. Perhaps he wears his helmet on his belt precisely because he can't get it over his head anymore :)
