My first Astartes and a test of the paint scheme. I'm trying to avoid just painting the Iron Hands black. Instead I want to suggest black using a dark, slightly slate blue, grey. It just looks better I think and also gives the painting more depth.
I think it worked very well. I was considering something similar for my Ravenwing. Starting with a grey/black and only using true black in the recesses for shading, a bit of weathering for some life... Yeah.. After seeing this I may just goahead with it.
Thanks. Starting with grey does create a different look. I think true black can look a little flat if not handled well but you can vary just how close to black you start to achieve different looks.
Just stumbled upon this blog via -Pontifex-, and very glad I did. Lovely atmospheric work, and the models' combination of fripppery and pragmatism is lovely :)
Exquisite, the slate blue tones really add a lot of depth to the model.
ReplyDeleteThank you Quinn.
